An editorial in the latest issue of the New Zealand Medical Journal raises concerns that cancer, the single largest cause of mortality in New Zealand, is a growing source of inequalities and health outcomes, particularly between ethnic groups.
“We are currently failing those with cancer in New Zealand”, claims the author of the editorial Professor Frank Frizelle . Adequate resourcing, leadership and an improvement in what we can deliver are now needed.
