Kiran Chug of the Dominion Post reports that a local scientist, Professor Martin Manning, is part of an international team of scientists who are proposing an overhaul of climate change research models.
However, the proposal has nothing to do with recent controversy surrounding the IPCC’s 4th report – instead, the scientists involved have been working on the approach for some time.

“However, Professor Manning said the proposed new model was not a response to recent criticism, and the scientific team had started working on how to improve climate change research in 2006.
“”It’s been in the works for a long time. It’s not driven by criticism.”
“The goal was to come up with a “better approach in the future” which better co-ordinated research from different scientific areas and made it more useful to policy makers, he said.”
