New Zealand has several hundred companies actively involved in the bioscience sector, over half of which (more than 150) expect to bring a new product to market within the next 2 years.
The results come from Statistics New Zealand’s biannual BioScience Survey.

“The most popular areas of research and development were in food and nutrition and drug discovery for humans, with 117 to develop products including new health supplements and nutriceuticals.
“Other respondents were active in animal- and plant-related bioscience, developing and making technologies for the environment, and marine bioscience.”
