Nominations are open for the second annual Science Journalism Awards.
We want to hear about your favourite piece of NZ science reporting from the past 12 months.
We created these awards to celebrate excellent reporting on science-related topics across all forms of media, by shining a spotlight on journalists based in Aotearoa or stories published in local outlets.
Two awards are available to recognise achievement across different career stages: one for established professionals and one for emerging journalists.
Last year’s finalists covered topics like the myopia epidemic, traditional tatau, tobacco industry lobbying, and weight loss surgery.
Nominate a piece for the 2025 awards here.
Any piece published between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 inclusive is eligible.
Journalists are allowed to self-nominate one piece of their own.
Get your nominations in by 7 April. We’ll announce the winners at our event in June.
