Sam McKnight writes in The Southland Times about the YikeBike, which was invented by a former Invercargill man and is capturing global interest.
The bike, which is electric, foldable and very light, has won numerous awards and accolades, and are expected to hit the market in June or July.

“[Dr Grant Ryan, its inventor] believed it was the YikeBike’s combination of cutting-edge technology, zero emissions and originality that appealed to people, but there was also a lot of luck involved. “We started working on this five or six years ago, before the global warming thing was taken seriously.””
